Superstitions of Diwali
Diwali is a very famous festival of Hindus. It is celebrated with great fun and enthusiasm country wide. There are many rituals; traditions as well as superstitions are associated with this festival since the time immemorial. These superstitions are followed blindly by a vast number of people. Some of the superstition popularly followed in most of the Hindu houses even till date. One of the very famous superstitions is associated with gambling. A legend said that once goddess Parvati was playing chausar with her husband lord Shiva. She won the game and was so much amused that she gave a boon that whosoever gambles on diwali night would remain prospering through out the whole year. So a large number of people gamble on diwali night with a blind faith of wining and becoming prosperous but most of the time they face a heavy financial loss and due to this the jolly festive mood of their entire family is get spoiled. |

| Another superstition hold that one should keep the main doors of the house wide open because goddess Lakshmi visit her devotees at diwali night and she won't enter their house and bless them with wealth and prosperity if their doors are closed. This superstition could lead to mis-happenings lie theft and stealing. According to one more superstition of diwali, we should keep the Diyas and candles glowing whole night in order to welcome Lakshmi the goddess of wealth. But in actual sense it is a very wrong practice. This could lead to serious fire accidents which may results in great loss of property and life and convert the happy and joyous occasion of diwali into a gloomy one. So one should not go by these superstitions and should think rationally before performing any such ritual. |
